Integrating Tradition and Modernity in Shanghai

The Glowing Pavilion stands out by exploring the possibilities of space, seamlessly connecting different areas for both state of mind and business functions. The designers have reinterpreted the pavilion design as a central feature, visually linking each area and providing a smooth flow for guests from the reception and lobby lounge to the pre-function lounge and conference room. Simultaneously, it acts as a division between these areas, ensuring privacy.

One of the highlights of the design is the tranquil ambiance it creates in the lobby lounge. By incorporating outdoor seasonal elements and glass openings, the interior frames the exterior garden like a piece of art. This unique feature allows visitors to enjoy a serene atmosphere while sitting in the lobby lounge, surrounded by the beauty of nature.

The Glowing Pavilion utilizes the height of the ceiling to its advantage, illuminating the space with reinterpreted traditional screens adorned with engraved acrylic panels and delicate metal details. The full-length Chinese landscape artwork and hospitable lighting further enhance the ambiance. The contrast of darker wooden stripes against the cooler tones of the surrounding walls and floors creates a dynamic lighting effect, adding a touch of vibrancy to the office space.

With a project size of 3000 sqft and a ceiling height of 6500mm, the Glowing Pavilion offers a unique and immersive experience for both employees and visitors. The design values human connection, providing a semi-enclosed teahouse as an alternative venue for casual business activities. This encourages engagement and collaboration in an amicable atmosphere.

The conference room design is another standout feature of the Glowing Pavilion. It leaves a lasting corporate impact on employees and visitors alike. The custom-made mini center island allows presenters to interact smoothly with the audience, showcasing the corporate identity and core values with professionalism and reliability.

The Glowing Pavilion project was completed in Shanghai Songjiang, a district known for its cultural roots. The designers conducted extensive research, including literature reviews, interviews, focus groups, and observations, to ensure the design accurately reflected the client's vision and corporate image. Overcoming challenges such as hesitant participants in focus groups and communication with local contractors, the designers successfully brought their vision to life.

The Glowing Pavilion has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This prestigious award acknowledges designs that showcase resourcefulness, technical and creative skills, and contribute to improving the quality of life.
